NOTE : PLEASE NOTE WE ALREADY SET THIS UP ON EACH AND EVERY DOMAIN ON OUR SERVERS, PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE SETTINGS RATHER CONTACT US REGARDING THIS.
To enable DKIM,Domain Keys and DMARC you will need to do the following:
- Login to your webmail with the supervisor account for the domain
- Scroll down and click on the settings icon
- Expand the domain settings menu
- Expand the advanced settings menu
- Click on mail signing
- Click the domainkey signing and DKIM checkboxes to enable them
- Click on certificate menu option
- Enter a selector name "mail"
- Change the key size to "2048" bit
- Click on the "generate key" menu option at the top
- The Text Record Name should show "mail.domainkey.(the domain you are setting this up on)"
- The Txt Record value will show you a long txt string. (we will need these in a few minutes so leave the screen open)
- Click the "save" menu option
- Now we will need to setup the dns in the control panel, so goto http://cp.yourdomainname and login
- Click "domains" icon and click the domain that you want to enable domainkeys on
- Click the "DNS Zone editor"
- Click the "add" icon
- Change the record type to "TXT" and click next
- Set the host name to "._domainkey"
- Set the record text to "o=~" then click save
- Add a second TXT record, by clicking add and changing the record type to TXT
- Set the host name to "mail._domainkey"
- copy the text from the smartermail "text record value" field and past it into the text field in the dns record (Note with 2048 bit encryption you need to break the string into two lines, otherwise it will not save. Paste the string into the field, scroll to more or less the middle of the line with your cursor and press enter to put a line break in. This splits the data on 2 line which works 100% as a text field cannot be longer than 254 chars and a 2048 bit cert is longer than this.)
- Save the text record
- Go back to the smartermail window and click on the "Test DNS" menu and it should show the dns test is fine by turning green
- Domain key signing is now active on the domain.
