RICA PROCESS
What is RICA & Why do I need to RICA my SIM Card?
RICA stands for the Regulation of Interception of Communications and provision of communication-related information Act. It is a South African law passed by the government that requires ALL cellphone users to register their numbers.
This legislation is to help law enforcement agencies to identify cellphone users and track criminals using cellphones for illegal activities.
HostworX is therefore lawfully required to RICA every HostworX SIM Card with the required RICA documents before their clients can take delivery.
What is needed to RICA successfully?
When collecting or receiving your SIM Card from Afrihost, you need to have the following ready when the courier arrives at the address you provided. By law we cannot give you your SIM Card without the below:
- The person as stated on the delivery note who is receiving the SIM Card must be present.
- Original Green Barcoded ID book of that person (equivalent if a foreigner)
- A Legible photocopy of your Green Barcoded ID book.
- Document for Proof of Residence containing your physical address.
