How to Install WordPress Using Softaculous in DirectAdmin

Softaculous allows you to install WordPress quickly and easily without needing advanced technical knowledge.

This guide explains how to install WordPress using Softaculous in DirectAdmin.


Before You Start

Before installing WordPress, make sure:

  • Your domain is active
  • Your domain is pointing to your HostworX hosting account
  • You can log into DirectAdmin

How to Install WordPress

Step 1 — Log Into DirectAdmin

Open your browser and visit:  https://cp.yourdomain.co.za   (Replace yourdomain.co.za with your own domain name)

Enter your DirectAdmin username and password.


Step 2 — Open Softaculous Apps Installer

From the DirectAdmin dashboard:

Click:   Softaculous Apps Installer

Depending on your DirectAdmin version, this may appear under:

  • Advanced Features
  • Extra Features

Step 3 — Select WordPress

In Softaculous:

Click:  WordPress

Then click:  Install


Step 4 — Choose the Installation URL

Select the domain name where WordPress should be installed.

Example:   yourdomain.co.za

 

Step 5 — Leave the Directory Field Empty

To install WordPress on your main website address:

Leave the:  In Directory   field empty. ! Important 

This allows your website to open directly from:

 
https://yourdomain.co.za
 

Step 6 — Enter Website Information

Enter:

  • Website Name
  • Website Description
  • Admin Username
  • Admin Password
  • Admin Email Address

Important Security Recommendation

Avoid using:

 
admin
 

as the administrator username.

Choose a unique username for better security. like if your domain is Sweety.co.za make the admin address something like SwAdmin


Step 7 — Choose Your Language

Select your preferred WordPress language if required.


Step 8 — Complete the Installation

Click:  Install

Softaculous will now install WordPress automatically.

This may take a few minutes.


WordPress Login Address

After installation, you can log into WordPress using:

 
https://yourdomain.co.za/wp-admin
 

Enter the administrator username and password created during installation.
