How do I setup hosting accounts once my reseller account is created

After your Reseller Hosting account is created, your main account will have it's own Control Panel / CP (SolidCp), just like all the other web hosting accounts you'll create for your customers.

However, the difference between your main account and all the other accounts, is that your main account has Reseller Privileges, ie you can manage all the other accounts centrally. The user accounts only can manage their own spaces.  You will have your own reseller interface in SolidCp  which is what you'll use to manage your web hosting business. This allows you to create hosting accounts, set customer account limitations like storage space and bandwidth limits, suspend/unsuspend accounts, and much more.

Creating Hosting Plans:

When creating hosting plans, you'll want to decide exactly what each plan will provide your customer, you will have to decide things like:

  • How many domains and websites can be hosted
  • How much storage space and bandwidth to allocate to each account.
  • How many email accounts to allocate to each account.
  • How many FTP accounts and MsSql / MySQL DBs to allocate to each account.
  • How much are you going to sell your web hosting plans for.

Once you've decided all these factors, you may login to your control panel  and setup hosting plans under the Accounts Menu on the left.

  1. To Create a Hosting Plan Click the Account Menu on the left and select Hosting Plans
  2. Click  the "Create Hosting Plan" button
  3. Give the Plan a name, ie basic, oe 1 domain, enter a description of what resources you are offering in this plan, select your reseller hosting space this plan applies to, (There is normally only one hosting space)
  4. Enable the various sections depending on what services you want to offer your clients, ie system to set disk space, traffic and domain limits, websites, mail, databases, etc. Please note the main options that you need to set are, diskspace, traffic limit, number of domains, number of websites, FTP accounts, email accounts and aliases and databases. The other settings that are available many of them can be set to unlimited, ie the various options under websites can all be enabled as you can only enable as many as there are websites. Some of the settings will automatically impose certain size limits like email accounts and databases. If you need to adjust these options there are upgrades that can do this.
  5. Once you have set the respective limits you can save the hosting plan.

Hosting plans make creating and upgrading or downgrading web hosting accounts much quicker and convenient, because you're essentially pre-defining all the above variables, so that you only have to choose a package name when creating a user account.

Creating User Accounts:

  1. Once you login you can click the "Create Customer: Button or select "Account Menu" from the left, then "Customers" and click "Create User"
  2. Enter the users details and click "create"
  3. You will then be prompted to create a Hosting Space, click the "Create Hosting Space" button,
    • Select the correct hosting plan for the user
    • Set the status to "Active"
    • There are a few options that you can enable,  The Create Space Resources checkbox should be checked (Enabled to create the services on our servers), the rest are optional and you can enable them based on your requirements
    • Enter the domain name the client will be using
    • Click the  "Create Space" Button
  4. The Clients account will be created and activated on the servers, and as long as the domain is registered and active and pointing to our dns servers, the website and mail will be operational.
